SEO for electricians that gets you found the second someone needs one

Electrical work is urgent and local. Someone's got a dead fuse board or a job that needs a certificate, they grab their phone, and they call one of the first names Google shows them. My job is to make sure one of those names is yours.

Here’s how nearly every domestic electrical job starts now: something’s gone wrong, or a certificate’s needed, and the customer types a few words into their phone. “Electrician near me.” “Emergency electrician [town].” Whoever shows up at the top, looks legit and is easy to tap — that’s who gets the call. Not the best electrician in the area. The most findable one. Local SEO is how you become the findable one.

The map pack is the whole game

For “electrician near me” style searches, Google puts a map at the top with three businesses pinned on it — and the overwhelming majority of people pick one of those three without scrolling any further. Everything below is fighting for scraps. So the single biggest thing I do for a sparky is get you into that three for your area: the right Google Business Profile setup, categories, service areas, photos and reviews all pulling in the same direction. Miss the map pack and you’re invisible for the searches that matter most.

Show up for the job, not just “electrician”

The real money is in the specific searches. Someone Googling “EICR [town]”, “fuse board replacement”, “EV charger installer near me” or “landlord electrical certificate” knows exactly what they want and is ready to book. Those searches are less competitive and far more valuable than the generic ones, so I build your site to rank for the actual jobs you want more of — the higher-value, less price-shopped work — rather than just the word “electrician.”

Emergencies go to whoever’s there and looks safe

When it’s urgent, nobody rings round for three quotes. They call the first result that looks trustworthy — proper reviews, a real local presence, an obvious phone number. So getting you visible and credible for emergency and out-of-hours searches is worth serious money, because those callers convert faster and haggle less than anyone. Being the reassuring name at the top, at 9pm, is a genuine earner.

Reviews win you the tap

Two electricians show up side by side in the map. One has twelve reviews, one has ninety. Who gets called? Reviews push you up the local rankings and win the click when you’re there, which makes them about the highest-return thing a trade can do online. So a dead-simple system for getting reviews off happy customers — a quick link you send when the job’s done — is part of what I set up. It compounds quietly for years.

If you do commercial and industrial work as well as domestic, that’s a different customer searching different terms — “commercial electrician [town]”, “3 phase”, “landlord” and the rest. I make sure the site speaks to whichever sides of the work you want more of, so you’re not just chasing one-off domestic call-outs when the steadier contract work is what you’re really after.

No jargon, no lock-in, no vanity reports. Just getting you found by the people who need an electrician right now, and shown to be the safe one to call. If that’s the work you want more of, let’s have a chat.

Questions

The things people usually ask

I get plenty off Checkatrade and word of mouth — why bother with SEO?
Because on Checkatrade you're renting your leads, and you're stood in a line-up with every other sparky on there. Ranking on Google is different — it's your own shopfront, the enquiries come straight to you, and you're not paying a fee or a subscription for each one. Keep the directories if they work for you; this just means you stop depending on them.
How quickly does it work?
Your Google Business Profile can start putting you in front of nearby customers pretty quickly — for a trade that's usually the fastest win, so I do it first. Ranking your website for the bigger searches builds over a few months. Anyone promising you the top spot overnight is having you on.
Can you just sort my Google Business Profile?
Yes, and for a lot of electricians that's exactly where I'd start — it's the single biggest lever for getting found locally. I'll get it properly set up, categorised, photographed and pulling reviews, and we can go further whenever you like.
Am I tied into anything?
No lock-in. It's month to month — you carry on because the phone's ringing, not because you're stuck in a contract.

Want to be the electrician they call first?

Tell me your area and the work you want more of, and I'll sort the plan.
