If you sell products, Shopify is where I’d build your shop. It takes care of the hard parts of selling online, like a checkout people trust, card payments, stock, orders and delivery options, and it’s simple enough to run from your phone. What it doesn’t give you is a shop that looks and feels like your business. That’s the part I do.
Why I build shops on Shopify
A shop has a lot more going on behind it than a normal website. Payments have to be secure, stock has to add up, orders have to reach you, and customers expect the checkout to just work. Shopify handles all of that, it’s reliable, and it keeps improving without you having to do anything. It means your shop is built on something solid, and I can spend the build making it look right and sell well, rather than reinventing a checkout.
What you get
- A store designed around your brand, not a template everyone else is using
- Your products, collections and pages set up, with clear photos and descriptions
- Payments going straight into your own Shopify account
- A fast, mobile-first shop, since most people will be buying on their phone
- The basics for Google done properly: page titles, descriptions and tidy page addresses
- Your delivery, returns and privacy pages in place
- A recorded training call so you can run the shop yourself from day one
What it costs, honestly
My build starts from £800 as a fixed price, agreed before anything starts. This Christmas it’s half price, so from £400. Shopify then charges for its own plan and card fees, which you pay to Shopify directly on your own account. On the Basic plan that’s around £230 a year, plus around 2% and 25p a sale for card payments. I’d rather you knew all of that up front than found out later. None of the money your shop takes ever goes through me.
How a build runs
- A quick chat about what you sell, who buys it and what you want the shop to feel like.
- The design. I design your shop and you sign it off before I build anything.
- The build. I build the store, set up your products, payments, delivery and pages, and test real orders.
- Launch. Your shop goes live on your own domain.
- Training. I take you through running it on a call you can keep and watch again.
From design sign-off to launch is usually 3 to 4 weeks.
Getting ready for Black Friday and Christmas
The busiest weeks for online shops are the run from Black Friday to Christmas, and a shop that opens in December misses most of it. Black Friday this year is 27 November. With 3 to 4 weeks for a build, booking by 31 October gives you time to launch, test and settle in before the rush starts.
Yours to keep
Everything is set up in your name: the Shopify account, the domain and the payments. There’s no ongoing fee to me and nothing tying you to me. If you’d like help later, I’m here on a pay-as-you-go basis, but you never have to.
If you’re ready to start selling properly online, tell me what you sell and I’ll come back with a straight answer and a price.
