You can have the best little business in town, but if you don’t show up when people search for what you do, they’ll find someone else instead. That’s the hard truth of getting found online, and it’s where a lot of small businesses quietly lose out, not because they’re worse, but because they’re invisible. Getting you visible is what I do: the practical, down-to-earth SEO that puts a small business in front of local people at the moment they’re looking, and turns that visibility into enquiries. No jargon, no scare tactics, no contracts you can’t escape, just the stuff that works, explained in plain English.
The local stuff that actually moves the needle
For most small businesses, getting found is won and lost locally, in the map results and the “near me” searches. So that’s where I start: claiming and properly optimising your Google Business Profile, getting your business listed consistently across the directories that matter, and making sure your site tells Google clearly what you do and where. These are the highest-impact, best-value things you can do, and they’re often overlooked. Get them right and you’re already ahead of most of your local competition.
Honest, plain-English, no lock-in
The SEO industry has earned its dodgy reputation, endless jargon, vague promises and contracts designed to be impossible to leave. I do the opposite. You deal with one person who tells you exactly what I’m doing, why it matters and what it’s likely to achieve, in words that actually mean something. No tie-ins, no smoke and mirrors. If something isn’t worth doing for your business, I’ll tell you, even if it means less work for me.
Built on a fast, findable site
Google rewards sites that are quick and well-built, and it quietly buries slow ones. If your website’s dragging, that’s an anchor on everything else. My own sites score 99 out of 100 on Google’s speed test, and that’s the standard I build to, so if we sort your site as part of this, you’re working from a foundation that helps you rank rather than one that fights you.
The pieces that make it work
Getting found isn’t one thing, it’s a few working together. The big lever is your Google Business Profile, which drives the map results. Underneath it sit consistent business listings across the web and a steady flow of genuine Google reviews, the trust signals Google leans on. If you’re not sure why you’re invisible in the first place, start with why your business might not be showing on Google. And if you’re a local business here, I do SEO in Liverpool from right on the doorstep.
Straight about what’s realistic
I won’t promise you number one by Friday, because nobody can honestly do that. What I will do is give you a clear, realistic picture of where you stand, who’s beating you and why, and a plain plan to climb, then get on with it. Steady, honest progress beats flashy promises that never materialise, every time.
Fair, upfront pricing
Some of this is one-off, fixed-price work, a Google Business Profile setup, a local ranking audit, a citations push, with clear starting prices, so you’re not signing up to an open-ended bill.
For ongoing work, there are three monthly options, and you can see the numbers before you talk to me:
| Monthly | Who it suits | |
|---|---|---|
| Foundations | £99 | A local business in a quieter patch, one location, a handful of competitors. |
| Growth | £249 | The one most businesses take, a real town, real competitors, several services or areas. |
| Competitive | £399 | City-centre, or a crowded trade where everyone’s fighting over the same searches. |
Every one includes Google Business Profile posts, review requests and replies, business listings, page improvements and a plain monthly report. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
One thing worth being straight about: getting you listed across the web is a job with an end. Once you’re on everything that matters, usually within the first two or three months, that time moves into link building and content instead. I’m not going to keep billing you for directory submissions that stopped being useful in month three.
No contracts, cancel whenever. The only thing I’ll ask is that you give it three months, because SEO genuinely can’t work faster than that, and I’d rather tell you now than take your money and disappoint you in week six. Every month you get a plain-English report on what I actually did and where things stand, no jargon, no baffling you with numbers.
And if you’re wondering whether a website is even worth it when you’ve already got socials, I’ve weighed up a website versus social media honestly.
More people now ask ChatGPT or read Google’s AI summary instead of scrolling the results. There’s an honest page on generative engine optimisation, what genuinely helps, and what nobody can promise.
If you’re not showing up when people search for what you do, let’s have a chat and sort it.
